When a family office asks us to design the technology for a palace or a compound in Dubai, the first platform we put on the table is Crestron Home. Not because it is the most expensive, but because at that scale it is the only one we would be comfortable putting our name to for the next twenty years. Here is the reasoning.
Scale without compromise
A Dubai palace is not a big villa. It is several buildings, a hundred or more rooms, staff who need a simpler interface than the family, and guest wings that must be isolated at a touch. Crestron Home runs all of it on one processor family with one interface, and the interface can be tailored per user: the owner sees everything, the house manager sees what he needs, a guest sees his suite.
Video that follows the family
Crestron DM NVX moves 4K video around the estate over the network, so twenty screens are fed from one rack and any source appears anywhere. In a house with a cinema, a majlis wall, a gym and a dozen bedrooms, that matters more than any single television.
Programming you own
Our Crestron programmers write the system in house and the source goes into the owner's portal. We have taken over too many Dubai palaces where the previous integrator left with the code, and the family could not change a scene without flying someone in. That is the failure Crestron Home, properly handed over, is designed to prevent.
Where Crestron is not the answer
For a villa of fifteen rooms where the family wants a brilliant app and a sensible budget, Control4 is often the better fit, and we say so. For a tower where the consultant has specified an open protocol, KNX is the backbone and Crestron sits on top only in the penthouses. We are certified on all of them, which is what lets us recommend honestly.
