In a private residence we often use KNX for the lighting, shading and climate layer and put Crestron or Control4 on top for the interface, audio and video. The owner gets the robustness of KNX and the elegance of a proper control system, and the consultant gets the protocol they asked for.

Is KNX better than Crestron or Control4?
They do different jobs. KNX in Dubai is a field bus for lighting, shading and climate; Crestron and Control4 are whole home control systems. The best large residences often use KNX underneath and Crestron or Control4 on top.
Do you hand over the ETS project?
Yes. Every KNX installation we commission in Dubai is handed over with its ETS project file and documentation, so any certified partner can maintain it in future.
Can you recover a KNX system with no project file?
Usually. For KNX takeovers in Dubai we read the devices on the bus, rebuild the project in ETS and reprogramme what has been lost. It takes longer than a handover but far less than a rewire.
Which KNX brands do you use?
For KNX in Dubai we specify Gira, Jung, ABB and Schneider actuators and Gira, Basalte and Zennio keypads, chosen with the interior designer for finish and with the consultant for the schedule.
